2007 Hybrid Cars: A Review

By: Anton Rowd

The auto industry has seen the emergence of different technologies on hybrid electric cars following Toyota's release of its first model, Prius, in 2001. Of course, the concept of hybrid cars is still the same as in all cars. The difference lies in the engine designs. Reviews has it that the 2007 hybrid cars are now more auto technologically-advanced than any car manufactured before. And the best part is that car manufacturers all over are aiming to develop even better hybrid cars in the future to compete in the market! Here are some examples of the more popular hybrid cars for the year.

Toyota Prius

Toyota Prius is still remains top on the hybrid car lists as the most fuel efficient and the most reliable hybrid car in the industry by going over 25 miles with as little as a dollar in the gas tank. Often mistaken for a compact for its mid-size, it has the smallest tank for its class.

Saturn Aura Hybrid Car

For a sedan, Saturn really knows how to attract with its looks. But under the hood, this hybrid car tells a different story. It may look good but for the year 2007, it is probably the worst performing hybrid in its class. A mid-size car with a tank size of about 16 gallons, the engine acts more like a thirsty animal than one that can conserve fuel; as a hybrid, it still does conserve gas but not as well as models found in the same category and from other car manufacturers.

2007 Nissan Altima

Fuel economy can be a tricky thing and Nissan seems to know its customers quite well in this field. Although the 2007 model does mean that you would have to spend about $1200 a year on fuel, the 2007 hybrid does manage to do 702 miles on a full tank. It seems that it outweighs its competition in Toyota but the trick that Nissan has up their sleeve is that the Altima has a larger tank that holds 20 gallons of fuel. For the very careful, it may not be a wise purchase but for those who don't intend on making too many stops that the gas station every now and then, this may be a great hybrid option to begin with.

Honda Civic Hybrid

This 2007 hybrid car is probably the closest when it comes to beating out the competition in Toyota. The Honda Civic was known as a bestselling gas-car, and it seems that it can prove its own worth as a hybrid as well. With a slightly larger tank than the Prius, the Civic can do 554 miles on a full tank which is quite an improvement from the last model but theres still room for improvement. Otherwise, once Prius stocks run low, this would be the next best thing on the market.
