French Press Coffeefrench press coffee jug graphic

I am definitely a self confessed coffee addict. I’ve always loved good coffee but ever since a visit to Sardinia many years ago when I went to a specialist coffee shop I have been totally hooked.

The gentle warming of the beans, the grinding, the mixing and even the individual packing was a total experience. The 2 old guys who owned the business were not just shop owners but connoisseurs of their product.

Walking out of that coffee emporium with the package of coffee wrapped in brown paper and still warm in my hands was an experience I have never forgotten.

The great thing about good coffee is that you don’t need to spend a fortune on equipment to get the best out of the beans - I do but then I’m an addict.

A simple hob espresso jug can cost no more than $25 and yes of course I have one… several actually. Just look at the incredible Bialetti shown on the right.

How can anybody resist having this functional but really simple show piece in their kitchen? For some reason I prefer using the Bialetti for morning coffee with friends rather than break out the "evening ware".

Espresso Machines come in all shapes and sizes and you can pay what you want for a good one, but you can still pick up a very nice one, which also froths for cappuccino, for under two hundred bucks.

I don’t own the La Pavoni pictured left, yet, but I am working on my better half to come round to my of way of thinking. I mean, how can you NOT have this elegant and romantic espresso maker in pride of place in your kitchen?

The design is from a bygone, more leisurely age, when friends had time to chat over great coffee. It makes me feel good just looking at it.

I am sure anybody would love to enhance their experience with coffee and also brighten up their kitchen with some genuine espresso bits and pieces. There is no doubt that not only do friends notice a nice espresso machine they will definitely think of you whenever they think of coffee.

Melbourne is a hugely popular holiday destination not just for Aussies but also for worldwide travellers. Quite often a package break holiday can ruin what should have been a fantastic holiday by providing inadequate accommodation.

Recent history of Melbourne starts around 200 years ago but there are still numerous Aboriginal influences from those who settled in the area thousands of years ago.

Some folks think Melbourne is actually the capital of Australia but it is in fact the capital of Victoria State located by the Yarra river about 5km from Port Philip Bay.

There is so much to do and see in Melbourne, like the Golden Mile is a must and this, together with Parkville and it’s wonderful old Victorian houses, is a focus for a lot of Melbourne’s heritage.

Excellent Accommodation in Melbourne can be viewed and booked online in the comfort of your own home so you know that when you arrive there is nothing to spoil your holiday. A nice relaxing shower then off to the old Queen Victoria Market or Chinatown for a shopping paradise or a culinary feast or why not both?

You can also take a look at cheap hotels in Melbourne if you are on a budget or, like many

travelers nowadays, just need a clean place to shower and sleep, and spend the saved cash on other things.

Why not try and pick up some last minute deals? These offers can be real money savers and the time frame for booking is usually within 21 days. Most people can arrange something in 3 weeks - especially if it means big discounts on your Melbourne accommodation.

Perhaps your ideas on Melbourne hotels
stretch to the lively and cosmopolitan area of St. Kilda which has hostels, B&B’s as well as hotels.

This is on the coast slightly to the east of the city and is looked upon as one of Melbourne’s most fashionable suburbs. Fitzroy, Acland and Carlisle streets is where the main eating places and shops can be found.

Don’t forget the beach and Luna Park with
it’s old fashioned wooden roller coaster.

I was searching around for information on Edinburgh as I am thinking of heading back to take another holiday there. Edinburgh is an incredible place with something for everyone. Anyhow, I came across this site GumTree.com and it turns out to be portal for just about everything related to Edinburgh.

It also gave me some ideas for a longer stay which I’ll explain.

I hadn’t thought of taking a job in Edinburgh, I mean, who thinks of WORKING when you’re on holiday? You don’t automatically think “Ah, Jobs In Edinburgh“.

Thinking this through… finding a job in Scotland, or for me initially Edinburgh, would be a great way to not only pay for your holiday and make new friends but also stay for a couple of months in this incredible city instead of just a week.

Now the possibilities really open up because with a job I can take weekends off to see other parts of Scotland which is really, and I mean really, beautiful.

The Gumtree website not only offers some good job listings for Edinburgh, both full and part time, but they have some excellent resources to help find a place to stay without it costing you the earth. You can even pick up a cheap motorcycle for getting around!

There are many jobs available in and around Edinburgh catering for all skill sets. For me I would just be looking for part time work, nothing too difficult just to pay for my accommodation, food and travels. Bare necessity living is great for stress relief as long as you don’t need 5 star meals every day.

Moving on from on Edinburgh and traveling around Scotland would present no problems. The GumTree website offers jobs and accommodation in all the major Scottish towns and cities such as Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness.

For me, working in Edinburgh is the gateway to much more than just a job, it opens up a whole avenue of things to do before it’s too late.

If you are looking for a job in Edinburgh or Scotland have a look at Gumtree.com

I was asked for a review of MyFitnessPal and the bottom line is this, MFP is Very, Very Good. With the free, and comprehensive, calorie counter plus a free membership and a great forum this is a superb way for people to slim down.

In fact it’s so good I joined up myself as I am always having to lose weight due to sitting in front of a computer most of the day.

Yesterday I set up the system which took less than 5 minutes - just a few questions for your personal database and then entered the food I had eaten that day and the exercise, (or lack of!), that I had done.

Once all your details have been entered just save everything and you are done for the day. A nice touch is that you see not only your total calories but the information is also broken down into what your Carb, Fat and Protein intakes were for the day as well.

Their online food database is great in helping you to plan meals and snacks. Below is a screen shot.

You simply type in your food, in this case potato, and above is the screen that pops up. MFP has around 80 different types of potato in the database for you to select from.

Some of the choices available for selection for the humble potato are Fast foods - Potatoes, hashed brown, Potatoes - Frozen, french fried, par fried, cottage-cut, unprepared, Snacks - Potato chips, made from dried potatoes, sour-cream and onion-flavor and even Sweet potato - Canned, vacuum pack (Sweetpotato). You can see there are plenty of varied choices for each food item.

Here’s some of the great things about MyFitnessPal

  • It is completely free.

  • It records and charts your daily progress.

  • It has a huge food database to record your calories.

  • Keep track of your daily exercise and see exactly the number of calories burned.

  • Forum for support. Real people with real weight loss issues and loads of help for you.

MyFitnessPal truly is a totally free and effective weight loss charting system that wants to help people lose weight.

I thought a review on the WebCockpit 1.0, which I use myself, would be useful for anybody wanting to turn, not just their business, but their lives around at the same time. That may seem like a bold statement but I have just finished doing the Daily Praxis, no it’s not a chant, and it’s really easy to concentrate on the important tasks for today - far more effective than a To Do list.
